Abstract

The Dharampuri  Ward lake is  the oldest  lake of Aheri, build  up by the Gond Maharaja for domestic purposes.   The  lake  is now  used  for domestic,  irrigation  and  pisciculture on lease  basis.  Monthly variations of different physico-chemical  characteristics were  studied for  period  of one  year  from July-06  to June-07   on  three sites  to  enhance  the  water  quality status.  Various  physico-chemical parameters  reveals   that  the  fluctuation  in  water  temperature,  pH,  DO  and  sulphate  are within desirable limits, slight  increase  in  the  values  of Hardness, Phosphate and  Nitrate indicates  the mesoeutrophic nature  of the  lake  at site  S,
